Girl Scouts of Central Texas as a Customized Program Specialist is currently seeking volunteers who would be able to give an hour each week to volunteer with at-risk girls, ages 5-15, living in low-income housing across the city. In return, you can log volunteer hours, gain experience working with a non-profit, go on awesome field trips, and enjoy building relationships with the girls. Your participation would allow us to do bigger things with the program. Having volunteers greatly enhances the experience our girls have, therefore enhancing the positive influence we have in their lives.

About the program:

The Housing Authority for the City of Austin has partnered with us to serve the girls living at various HACA locations. Things we do include weekly troop meetings, earning badges, games, crafts, cookie sales, and field trips. We currently have 7 troops, meeting Monday through Thursday, all throughout Austin. We are looking for reliable individuals who can complete a background check and be a good role model to the girls. If you want to volunteer, but can’t make a weekly commitment, we could also use monthly volunteers and for the occasional field trip (you will know well in advance the dates for these trips). Below is the schedule for our troop meetings. Currently, our biggest need is for the troops:
