The Women’s Fund Miami-Dade has launched the See Her Vote to engage working women in the North and South Ends of Miami-Dade County. We aim to educate and mobilize women in Florida City, Homestead, Opa-Locka, and Miami Gardens in order to get them out to vote on Election Day in August and Novemb er. We will do so through community forums, phone banking, canvassing, and a communications campaign.

Not only will these women turn out to vote in the national elections, they will be empowered to enact change on the state and local level to affect laws about pay equity, paid sick leave, workplace pregnancy protection, access to healthcare, protection from violence, and gender discrimination.

  • Every Saturday from 10am - 1pm we will be canvassing neigborhoods in North and South Dade.
  • On the last Wednesday of every month we will be phone banking registered women voters.

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to one 3 hour shift but longer term volunteers are welcome. Volunteers will be provided with community services hours, a t-shirt, and breakfast and/or lunch.

Description

Founded in 1993, The Women’s Fund is Miami-Dade’s only organization directing all of its energy toward creating equal opportunity, access and influence for women and girls. Through research, collaboration, and grant-making we expose the issues, give voice to the silent majority, and pool our collective giving power to provide grassroots solutions.
