City Harvest is in high need of volunteers at our Tuesday, July 2nd Stapleton Mobile Market! Help distribute fresh produce, free of charge, in an open-air market setting to hundreds of families of need! Volunteers will be stationed at 3-4 market tables, each supplied with thousands of pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables that they will help distribute to eligible market-goers. As the market-goers stop by each table, volunteers greet them and then weigh and bag the produce.

The Mobile Markets take place outdoors, rain or shine. We stress that it's important to wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothes. As this is a very hands-on activity and there is no secure place to leave your property, it is recommended that you travel light, i.e., personal belongings should be left at home/office or a messenger bag/backpack should be used.

First time volunteers will not need to attend an orientation for this special, high need project! Volunteers must be 18 years or older and must register on City Harvest's Volunteer Portal in order to attend.

About City Harvest, Inc.

6 East 32 Street, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10016, US

Mission Statement

City Harvest exists to end hunger in communities throughout NYC. We do this through food rescue and distribution, education and other practical, innovative solutions.

City Harvest pioneered food rescue in 1982 and, this year, will collect 55 million pounds of excess food to help feed the nearly 1.4 million New Yorkers struggling to put meals on their tables. Through relationships with farms, grocers, restaurants, and manufacturers, City Harvest collects nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste and delivers it free of charge to 500 soup kitchens, food pantries and other community food programs across the five boroughs. In addition to helping meet the immediate need for food, City Harvest developed long-term Healthy Neighborhoods programs which partner with low-income communities to increase access to fresh produce and help residents shop for and cook nutritious, budget-conscious meals.
