Voices for Biodiversity, a nonprofit conservation electronic magazine (e-zine) that focuses on connecting people and other species so that all species survive and thrive together, is currently seeking a volunteer Human Resources Manager.
Voices for Biodiversity’s mission is to collect and share the stories of those who usually would not be heard, such as non-experts, small conservation nonprofits, students, and indigenous peoples. We have been at the vanguard of digital publishing since 2009. Voices for Biodiversity was awarded the Anthropology in Media Award by the American Anthropological Association in 2014. It has also won the National Federation of Press Women award in 2015 and the New Mexico Press Women award in both 2015 and 2016. The organization has an informal affiliation with the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University.
The role of HR Assistant is responsible for assisting the HR Manager in volunteer recruitment including recruitment strategy development, position posting, candidate review and phone screening. The HR Manager also handles volunteer relations, new volunteer onboarding, volunteer hours management and volunteer exits.
This is a virtual opportunity that can be performed in any location with stable Internet access. We are looking for a volunteer with at least one year of experience in human resources/recruitment and a history of proven success. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The HR Manager will need to have basic computer skills and great organization and time management skills. The time commitment for the role will be four hours per week. It is preferred that volunteer HR Managers make a six month commitment to the role.
