We are currently in need of Volunteers with Certified Pet Therapy Dogs or Pets to make visits with our Hospice patients on service. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring some love and joy into a patients life.

Our volunteers are extremely committed and compassionate about our program. Interested volunteers must consider the following:

  • Must make a 1 year commitment
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be reliable and dedicated
  • Must be able to drive and must have car insurance
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to pass a Health Screening
  • Must complete our in-person or online training
  • Must be comfortable being in nursing homes and/or the homes of our patients

Mission Statement

Hospice Life Care provides compassionate care to terminally ill patients. Hospice's holistic approach to care seeks to make patients as comfortable as possible and to manage symptoms so that their last days may be spent with dignity and quality. Hospice services are provided at home, in assisted living, or in long term care facilities. Hospice addresses not only the physical dimensions of terminal illness, but also the practical, emotional and spiritual. As part of its guiding philosophy, hospice pays special attention to the needs of family members as they make this difficult journey.

Description

Hospice Life Care serves patients and families throughout Hampden and Hampshire Counties. The typical hospice patient has an estimated life expectancy of six months or less and is aware of the prognosis and consents to the goals of hospice care.

Hospice care is provided by a team of professionals; the Medical Director, Hospice Director, Registered Nurses, Social Work, Home Health Aides, a Chaplain and Bereavement Coordinator, the Volunteer Coordinator and our Hospice Volunteers.
