There are many ways in which you can help preserve disappearing cultures.

At CoDA (codifi.org), we are caring and passionate experts of cultural heritage, and if you are looking at this ad, you must be too...

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WE ARE TRYING TO SOLVE?

We help archaeologists, museums and libraries staff, both Native American and not, to learn and adopt the latest digital technologies and preservation standards to take care of our precious heritage and traditions. There is so much to save, little money, and we try to be there with the best and latest to help in affordable ways. It is great work, disseminate and teach sophisticated technologies to save cultures, and keeping it simple for all to learn! Not easy to explain...

WE NEED A STRONGER MESSAGE, AN AWESOME PITCH.

Do you want to help? We need great writers like you with a marketing background that can help us create a strong pitch, or pitches for different audiences, and tell the right story in the right way to attract collaborators, donors, clients and advocates.

GET INVOLVED WITH US AND HELP SAVE CULTURES

We work on so many projects in the States and around the world (Israel, Jordan, France, Hawa'i, Ethiopia, just to mention a few). Help us raise interest and make an impact in the world of archaeology and cultural heritage. Our mission is important and needs you...

Mission Statement

The Center for Digital Archaeology is a California 501(c)3 non-profit founded in 2011, helping communities, archaeologists and cultural resource managers capture, preserve, and share cultural heritage digitally.

Description

CoDA works at a unique junction between anthropology, archaeology, and digital technology to help archaeologists and anthropologists learn and adopt tools and solutions to save cultural heritage digitally. We do this through two main programs: Digital Archaeology and Digital Traditional Knowledge. In a collaborative environment and by creating long-lasting trust and learning experiences, we create community digital archives and digital online exhibits (on our platform mukurtu.net), cultural data management plans, and trainings to enhance digital skills.

For example, we helped the Alutiiq Museum in Alaska to built an online Alutiiq language archive which provides access to the endangered Alutiiq Museum's language recordings to the public and community members (https://codifi.org/project/the-alutiiq-museum-naken-natmen-project/). One of the most visually compelling online community archives we have contributed to is the Mira Canning Stock Route, an online showcase that allows differential access to aboriginal art and performances (http://www.canningstockrouteproject.com). The Sípnuuk Digital Library is a newborn online archive for collecting Karuk's traditional knowledge around medicine and food, and archaeological locations for spiritually significant places (https://sipnuuk.mukurtu.net/).
