Do you live in Littleton? Do you have experience working with preschoolers? Are you available one day each month, Tuesday - Friday, for morning and afternoon storytime visits?

Jefferson County Public Library Kids & Families Volunteer Storytime Program
Goals

• To provide preschoolers with the opportunity to experience the love of books and the joy of reading
• To introduce early literacy skills to Jeffco’s preschoolers
• To promote the use of JCPL among preschoolers, their families and their teachers

Volunteer Qualifications

• A love of kids, books and libraries
• An appreciation of preschooler’s energy and enthusiasm
• Commitment to attend storytime training in August
• Ability to commit to at least 1 preschool visit/month for the '16-'17 school year.
• A reliable mode of transportation
• Must be 18 years or older

Volunteer Responsibilities

• Pick up prepared storytimes once/month from a designated JCPL Library
• Prepare for storytimes by previewing books and practicing songs, rhymes, and props before visits
• Visit and read to one or more classes/month, September - May
• Promote JCPL’s resources and services
• Communicate with the teacher and Kids & Families staff
