Volunteer Position Description

Position Title: Receptionist

Purpose: The position of Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for The Salvation Army of Palm Beach County, supporting the organization’s mission of meeting human needs without discrimination. The receptionist represents the organization to the public who visit or contact the organization’s main offices Monday through Friday 830am-430pm as needed.

Location: The receptionist works in the public reception area of The Salvation Army’s main office located at: 2100 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd in West Palm Beach, FL 33409

Key Responsibilities of the Receptionist:

• Answers the main phone line and directs calls to appropriate personnel
• Greets guests and directs them to appropriate offices or locations
• Handles donations of goods and writes receipts
• Answers questions about general services, activities, and events county wide
• Helps with special office related projects
• Maintain a secure and clean receptionist area

Responsible to: Business Administrator

Shifts Available: The Receptionist is needed to cover the front desk at any of the following shifts as needed:

v Full Day 830am-430pm (Days needed TBA ie: Vacations, etc)

v Half Day 830am-1230pm (Days needed TBA ie: Vacations, etc)

v Half Day 1230pm-430pm (Days needed TBA ie: Vacations, etc)

v Lunch Shift 12pm-1pm (Daily Mon-Fri)

Qualifications:

□ Registration and Background Check with Voluntary Services

□ Interview with Business Administrator

Skills:

• Professional and Pleasant manner
• Ability to handle multiple requests at a time
• Basic knowledge of computer.
• Patience
• Problem-solving ability

Support: Training for this position will be provided by the Business Administrator
