Mission Statement
The mission of The Children’s Course/The First Tee of Greater Portland is to provide children; including underprivileged, at-risk, low-to-moderate income, and special needs youth, the opportunity to participate in educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
Description
The Children's Course is a 9-hole par-3 course that offers golf instruction to youth ages 4-17. We are partnered with The First Tee program and use the curriculum to teach life skill lessons including courtesy, confidence, respect, responsibility, honesty, integrity, perseverance, sportsmanship and judgement. We work with a wide range of abilities at The Children's Course such as special needs, visually impaired, at-risk and others of different abilities. Working with the children is very rewarding and leaves you with a feeling of happiness.
