The Summer Celebration of Water offers free paddle sports on the Columbia Canal along with kids activities, nature tours, and lots of fun door prizes!

The City of Columbia, Richland and Lexington Counties are looking for volunteers for the 8th annual Summer Celebration of Water on Saturday, September 16th. The water-themed festival provides Midlands residents with free access to kayaking, boating, and paddle boarding on the Columbia Canal. There will also be kid-friendly splash activities and hands-on exhibits that demonstrate ways everyone can keep our waterways beautiful, swimmable, and fishable. See for more information on the festival.

Volunteers are needed to help with event set-up and tear-down, guest registration, attendee surveys, and vendor activities. The festival runs from 10:00am to 2:00pm and volunteers are needed for three-hour shifts beginning at 9:00am. A T-shirt and lunch will be provided.

To volunteer, please reply to Jennifer Satterthwaite with the City of Columbia via email at or by phone at 803-545-0184.
