Position Description:

Food Shelf Assistant

Purpose:

Assist clients find food items, answer their questions, restock bread and bakery items, restock shelves and help with traffic flow during busy times of the month

Commitment :

Three to Four hours, once a week

Location:

402 East 2nd Street

Trained and Supervised by :

Volunteer Coordinator will provide orientation, training and ongoing supervision

Responsibilities:
Volunteers will help stock food items from the loading dock table, open new cases so food items are displayed, remove empty cardboard boxes, unlock public bathroom door for patrons when needed, and provide excellent customer and assistance to shoppers as needed. Follow food shelf policies and procedures, attend regular meetings and maintain contact with the Volunteer Coordinator.

Qualifications :

Able to lift 10 - 25 pounds, walk and move around the store easily, & cross trained to assist with clerking duties when needed. Able to work with a diverse clientele and maintain confidentiality.
