ORGANIZATION: WHW (Women Helping Women)

WHW provides the unemployed and underemployed the skills and resources they need to get and keep a good job.

The internship program is a unique opportunity offered to students involved in Service Learning. The curriculum has a multidisciplinary approach that, through a rotation system, integrates all areas of the non-profit organization. This structure allows the student to gain experience and first-hand knowledge of all the relevant elements involved in the operations of a non-profit organization.

Major responsibilities include:

*Direct Client Service: Provide high-quality, dignified services to low-income clients while assisting them with professional clothing and accessories.

*Administrative Support: Perform general clerical duties to ensure that the organizational operations run smoothly. Greet clients, ensure that the client intake is completed accurately, maintain databases, answer telephones, schedule appointments, make copies, fax and file documents.

*Outreach and Volunteer Recruitment: Network and promote WHW within the Orange County community. Participate at job fairs, community events, and volunteer recruitment exhibitions.

*Contribution Assessment: Receive donations, interact with donors, and sort/process donations.

Description

We are workforce development professionals who help those facing real barriers navigate an uneven job landscape. We proudly enter the equity space to contribute to a more just and verdant society. Our intentional focus is serving women who are domestic abuse survivors, human trafficking victims, formerly incarcerated, foster youth and housing insecure. However, we also serve all job seekers and have very robust programs catering specifically to men and male youth. For 27 years, we have served job seekers in need at no charge, many of whom are referred by over 60 non-profits - achieving "true" wraparound services for the individuals involved. Our applied expertise allows those who have endured some of life’s harshest realities a new way forward where they own their self-sufficiency and economic mobility. Their upward trajectory and success is our great reward!
