The "EMS Volunteer Concierge" to help greet the 50+ EMS teams arriving in our Emergency Department daily. The Volunteer EMS Concierge position will assist Emergency Medical Services providers (ambulance, helicopter and fire / rescue personnel). Our goal is to provide the highest level of service excellence to our valued EMS providers.
The Medical Center of Aurora is a Level II Trauma Center. Volunteers will provide assistance to the staff that will ultimately increase departmental efficiency and patient satisfaction, assist staff in providing comfort measures to patients, assist staff with various clerical tasks that will ultimately increase departmental efficiency, and serve as an ambassador to the unit by providing outstanding customer service.
Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers must be self-directed and have an ability to adapt to a busy fast-paced environment.
Minimum Age = 16 years old
Hours: Volunteers are asked for a time commitment of 3 hours per week for 3 months, minimum. You are welcome to sign up for more, if slots are available.
Shifts are in 3-hour increments, 7 days per week: 12pm-3pm, 3pm-6pm, or 6pm-9pm. We may have the opportunity to combine shifts into 1 day. We will not do morning shifts because we do not have enough EMS teams arriving to fully utilize your time.
Desired Characteristics: We are looking for volunteers who are friendly, outgoing and adaptable. Volunteers need to be able to quickly introduce yourself to EMS providers and be fast learners. Volunteers must be assertive and have the ability to quickly adapt to changing situations. Volunteers should be able to tolerate stressful situations.

Description
The Mission of the Volunteer Services Department is to develop and maintain an efficient and humanistic volunteer staff which offers an extra dimension of care and service to patients, understanding and empathy for families and visitors, and supportive services for the hospital's staff.
The goal of Volunteer Services is to support the hospital by providing exceptional Guest Relations. We strive to have volunteers serve as a significant link between the hospital and the community so that we are ever mindful of the needs within our community.
