NVO

New Vision Organization, Inc. is focused on extensive efforts to re-establish positive interaction and communication between incarcerated individuals their families and the diversified communities nationwide to assure all goals are met. We strive to educate the public on cultural awareness and the issues of discrimination, racism, and hatred which results in increased crime and unnecessary human destruction.

Probono lawyers, Paralegals and/or law students needed to assist NVO's National Legal Team in addressing and resolving the legal issues, including human/civil rights' violations of prisoners. National Legal team Networks in various states throughout the country and seeks all interested legal advocates and students.

We are seeking to position at least one in each state.

With a supervising attorney: - Obtain a post office box - Receive mail from inmates - Respond within 5 days describing what you can do on NVO letterhead and your post office box address - Include an application for services and consent to release information - Inform the inmate about the kind of documents you can - "ghost write" for him under the supervision of an attorney. - Once you obtain the inmates trial transcripts and appellate court orders, review the documents for harmful errors. They must be so material, that the inmate was clearly denied due process of law. - Gather case law and/or statutes to support your arguments. - The legal research will take a long time. Keep your client informed of your progress. - Put together the professional looking document and send it to the inmate after you receive your supervisor’s approval. - Return his/her documents once he/she is satisfied with your work.
