New AmeriCorps Program Accepting Applications! Join AmeriCorps to help veterans and people experiencing homelessness. Positions are available throughout Santa Barbara County. Much more than just a job, AmeriCorps volunteers get things done as part of our nation's domestic Peace Corps. Volunteers commit to an 11 month term of service. We are offering 5 different commitment levels ranging from 7 hours a week to 40 hours a week. Volunteers receive a cash living allowance while serving and qualify for an education award upon completion of the term. Cash stipends range from $218 per month to $1236 per month. Education awards range from $1222 to $5575 and can be utilized to pay off existing student loans +/or future cost of school attendance. Student loan forbearance is probable while serving.
