Loaves, Fishes & Computers (LFC) is a computer technology nonprofit seeking a full-time AmeriCorps Volunteer Infrastructure Program (VIP) Fellow. The VIP Fellow will function as LFC’s Volunteer Coordinator (VC) whose role is managing and growing LFC’s successful volunteer program.

Loaves, Fishes and Computers’ (LFC) mission is to help overcome the digital and economic divides by providing low-cost or no-cost computer systems, technology assistance and computer repair to low-income families, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and non-profit organizations, while providing volunteers a place to learn, share & grow in the field of Computer Science & Information Technology.
LFC is mostly a volunteer run organization which provides a welcoming environment where our age and multi-culturally diverse volunteers can assist in our daily operations and offer their technological services to low income residents. LFC provides its volunteers with the opportunity to gain technical, business and administrative skills appropriate for career exploration, career development, and higher education advancement.
Over the past 3 years, the AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinators’ (VCs) work has proven invaluable in recruiting, training and managing more than 200 volunteers annually. The VCs work has helped to stabilize and expand LFC’s three core programs-(1) Community Supported Digital Inclusion and Computer Reuse Program. (2) Technical Support/Computer Repair Program. (3) Volunteer Career Training, Job Exposure, and Community Engagement .
Starting September 5, 2017, LFC’s volunteer program will enter its 4th year of support from the, AmeriCorps sponsored, VIP Fellow position. The VIP Fellow’s goal will be to continue to support LFC’s mission of providing low-cost to no-cost computers, repair and digital literacy classes to our low-income communities.
The AmeriCorps VIP Fellow will report to the Operations & Programs Manager and work directly with volunteers and program leads to ensure the best possible experience for our volunteers and clients. Salary Details - $15,000 per year plus $5,500 Education Award, AmeriCorps Health Insurance. Note: This is a grant-funded position, final confirmation of stipend amount and Education Award to be determined in July.Position Responsibilities
Providing orientations to ensure all volunteers joining us understand our mission and goals
Organize regular training of our volunteer staff
Help to ensure our volunteers are working toward personal goals, ensuring their experience with LFC is mutually beneficial
Publishing a weekly schedule
Publishing a monthly volunteer report to the board
Connecting with organizations in the community to develop partnerships to help LFC better serve its volunteers
Network in the local community to expand volunteer outreach and engagement
Coordinate volunteers as part of community outreach events
Maintain database of volunteers and their hours
Maintain LFC’s social media outreach
Participate in fundraising and in-kind donations through the establishment of business partnerships
Attend statewide AmeriCorps training
Participate in weekly meetings with LFC leadership
Additional Responsibilities Will Include
Occasional purchasing of supplies
Participate as an active member of LFC management by contributing hours to the daily operations
Required: Outstanding personality, exceptional ability to work well with others, strong writing skills, clear Department of Justice and FBI background check conducted after hire; Valid CA state driver’s license; access to a car;
Preferred: Interest in technology, Spanish speaker a plus, College Graduate
