Term: September 12 th , 2016-early August 2017
Loaves, Fishes and Computers’ (LFC) mission is to help overcome the digital and economic divides by providing low-cost or no-cost computer systems, technology assistance and computer repair to low-income families, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and non-profit organizations, while providing volunteers a place to learn, share & grow in the field of Computer Science & Information Technology.
LFC is mostly a volunteer run organization which provides a welcoming environment where our age and multi-culturally diverse volunteers can assist in our daily operations and offer their technological services to low income residents. LFC provides its volunteers with the opportunity to gain technical, business and administrative skills appropriate for career exploration, career development, and higher education advancement.
Over the past two years, the AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinators’ (VCs) work has proven invaluable in recruiting, training and managing more than 100 volunteers annually. The VCs work has helped to stabilize and expand LFC’s three core programs-(1) Community Supported Digital Inclusion and Computer Reuse Program. (2) Technical Support/Computer Repair Program. (3) Volunteer Career Training, Job Exposure, and Community Engagement .
Starting September 12, 2016, LFC’s volunteer program will enter its 3rd year of support from the, AmeriCorps sponsored, VIP Fellow position. The VIP Fellow’s goal will be to continue to support LFC’s mission of providing low-cost to no-cost computers, repair and digital literacy classes to our low-income communities.
The AmeriCorps VIP Fellow will report to the Operations & Programs Manager and work directly with volunteers and program leads to ensure the best possible experience for our volunteers and clients.
