Spotlighting Post-Incarceration Success Stories

WATCH>> https://transcendence.media/FBIIB-Exodus

We're searching for a variety of volunteers including an associate director. Founded in 2015, FBIIB Inc. is a unique intervention startup that aims to motivate and redirect at-risk youth toward better futures through media production training and video spotlighting post-incarceration success stories.

In 2018, we partnered with Transcendence Media to launch a pilot youth production workshop. The 14-Session program trained at-risk-youth (18 to 24) to envision, organize, film, edit, and publish compelling media content through HD video (see above video). Our aim is to offer a full program that will culminate in a series of short video stories where students spotlight post-incarceration success stories.

One component that excites us about this program is filming behind-the-scenes footage of our students learning, engaging, filming their subjects, and talking about this experience. This footage along with their 3-minute films, will form each episode of our Docu-Series, From Bars II Beyond. As a reality based series, each episode will portray a chronological development of their background, experience, and transformation.

The program aims to inspire young minds in at least 2 ways:
1) By sharing the ingredients of how formerly incarcerated leaders overcame their challenges to transformation, and
2) Showing these at-risk students using what they learned to shape, not only their video stories, but their own paths toward a better future.

To help us get our much needed programs off the ground, we are recruiting volunteers to help:

  • Raise funds (crowdfunding, grant writing, donation drives) - Fundraising Coordinator
  • Find, pitch, and persuade youth organization partners to buy programming - Outreach Coordinator
  • Improve our Social Media (particularly our Youtube channel) - Social Media Coordinator
  • Improve our Branding & Messaging - PR & Communications Coordinator
  • Structure and organize our programming endeavors - Program Dev.Coordinator
  • Organize and maintain our financial records - Accountant & Budgeting Coordinator
  • Digital Graphic Designer

The posts in each of these areas will involve work that is commensurate with the volunteer's experience and interests. Learning support will be provided from management and other resources.

As we secure funding, we hope to make some or all of these into paid positions. However, we still need to produce measurable results by executing our current programming goals effectively. Our young people need us to make it happen... Are you ready?

About FBIIB Inc. FROM BARS II BEYOND

Location:

158-28 72nd Avenue, Flushing, NY 11365, US

Mission Statement

FBIIB Inc. aims to motivate and direct young, criminal-justice-involved men and women to aspire and successfully pursue enriching and productive professions, while reducing some of the stigma and disinvestment they face within our society.

Description

FBIIB is a uniquely-niched youth intervention startup that aims to support their aspirations in media while spotlighting the many men & women who, despite having a criminal justice past, are transcending expectations in forging successful futures.

In partnership with Transcendence Media, FBIIB is launching a youth production workshop at our LIC/NY production studio, a space we are calling The New-Gen Production House.

Our program is a 12-Session workshop series to train at-risk-youth (18 to 24) to envision, organize, film, edit, and publish compelling media content through HD video. Students will work in 3 teams of four, each team ultimately producing a 3-minute video that features a post-incarceration success story.

One component that excites us about this program is filming behind-the-scenes footage of our students learning, engaging, filming their subjects, and talking about their experience. This footage along with their 3-minute film projects, will form each episode of our Docu-Series, From Bars II Beyond. As a reality based series, each episode will portray a chronological understanding of their struggles, experience, and transformation.

At the end of each workshop series, students will be awarded with a certificate, a graduation screening of their projects, and referrals to film organizations for possible employment, internships, or mentorships.
