Help plan and run a great dog event in Avon, CT - Course Manager for the dog walk & challenge course

We’re looking for a Course Manager for our annual dog event, to be held on Saturday, October 1. Raise a Paw Against Leukemia has 3 components to it: (1) a dog walk with 'challenge stations’ throughout it that owners can opt to have their dogs participate in; (2) dog fund-raising, in which dog owners can have their dogs get pledges (online crowdfunding) for their participation in any parts of the event (or just raise funds because they want to), and (3) a pet-related fair, with vendors and dog adoption opportunities. Dogs that get pledges are automatically entered into drawings for prizes.

The Course Manager will be responsible for drawing up the walk course and challenge station layout; writing set-up directions for each challenge station & what volunteers at each station do during the event; creating challenge station signs to be posted at each station during the event; overseeing volunteers who will help to set up and take down the course and challenge stations on event day (volunteers will be assigned by the Volunteer Coordinator); and communicating with other planning committee members as needed.

The Course Manager will be given photos of the venue and descriptions of the challenge stations to use in planning, as well as all materials that will be needed on event day. Most of the pre-event work can be done on the Course Manager’s schedule and from home. The Course Manager is expected to be at the event on Saturday, October 1, from 8 AM - 1 PM. The Course Manager can visit the venue in advance, and Co-Managers are welcome! If you like planning out physical space and activities for that space, this is the volunteer opportunity for you!
