Want a great way to get outside and meet new people? Are you interested in developing interpersonal communication skills? Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is looking for enthusiastic, people-oriented volunteers to conduct neighborhood surveys in the Washington Park area.
When you join the research team as a Canvassing Assistant, you help collect crucial data about resident engagement, safety perceptions, and homeowner satisfaction. Our Canvassing Assistants help measure the impact Milwaukee Habitat has in the Washington Park neighborhood and identifies ways to improve our practices. No previous canvassing experience is required- we will train each volunteer willing to help.
Canvassing Assistants will develop useful interviewing and problem-solving skills and have the opportunity to work with diverse populations while directly contributing to Milwaukee Habitat’s mission of eliminating poverty housing.
All canvassing is done in the Washington Park neighborhood, so volunteers must have reliable transportation from Habitat’s main office to Washington Park. All volunteers will work in pairs and be accompanied by Habitat staff while in the Washington Park neighborhood.
Volunteers are asked to attend a general orientation via phone conference and to commit at least one 4-hour shift; additional training will be provided at their first shift.6 More opportunities with Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity
