About

Come volunteer for the Best Friends Animal Society's latest intitiative at the South LA Animal Shelter in partnership with Stray Cat Alliance. The Safe at Home program is an intervention program designed to prevent unweaned kittens from entering the city shelter, where they are at risk of being killed due to a lack of resources and sufficient staff.

Our job is to ask the people who are bringing found kittens into the shelter to take care of them in their home until they are at least 8 weeks old. If they agree to foster, we supply them with everything needed to care for the little ones as well as "how to" instructions, follow-up support, and any necessary vet care prior to getting adopted.

The program is part of a larger mission to make Los Angeles no-kill by 2017. Launched in March of this year, Safe at Home has already helped saved the lives of about 120 kittens.

If you're over the age of 16 and love helping animals and people,

join us in saving the lives of many more kittens!
