Performs Campground Host duties in an assigned campground. Works approximately 20-30 hous a week including weekends and weekend evenings. Must like working with a variety of people, able to provide a positive image of the Forest Service (FS). May require walking in rough or uneven terrain. It also requires standing, lifting, bending or carrying. Volunteer provides information about the local area and services available, reports problems to the FS or law enforcement. Duties may include daily maintenance and restocking of restrooms, monitoring daily reservation reports, posting site reservation signs, litter removal in the campground, cleaning fire rings, resolving minor visitor complaints, informing campers of rules and regulations, tracking visitor use and numbers to help the FS with fee compliance. Duties also include assisting with trash and recycling collection. A felony criminal record and/or drug and alcohol dependency will be grounds for dismissal; references are checked. A campsite will be provided to the host during the volunteer service period.

UTMC is a non-membership nonprofit organization that works to maintain public trails. We provide horse and mule packing services to agencies and to other nonprofits. We have many chainsaw and crosscut sawyers who volunteer with our organization.
