Circulation Assistant: Cart Organizer
Does putting things in numerical and alphabetical order make you happy? Do you like to be surrounded by books? This might be the right volunteering job for you!
Importance of Position: Assists library staff by carefully 'reading’ the carts by call number and author (to make sure these are arranged correctly). This is a very important job since if items are misplaced, patrons and staff are unable to located wanted materials.
Qualifications:
- Ability to arrange items in numerical and alphabetical order.
- Must be able to stand and squat repeatedly.
- Aptitude for details and neatness.
- Willingness to become familiar with the Dewey Decimal System.
- Willingness and ability to work independently and quietly.
Responsibilities:
- Organize carts of returned items.
Training Provided: Orientation to the library as well as specific training for organizing carts.

- Opportunity to become acquainted with the Library’s collection.
Time and Length of Commitment: Minimum weekly 2-hour shift for a minimum 6 month commitment. Monday through Friday. *Provide the Volunteer Coordinator sufficient notice if unable to keep shift assignment.
Grounds for Termination: Failure to carry out assigned responsibilities. Breach of confidentially.

The St. Helena Public Library is a one facility municipal library serving the City of St. Helena and surrounding areas. We are located in the Napa Valley but we are not part of the Napa City-County Library System. We are part of SPLASH, a Solano & St. Helena libraries partnership.
