The William Cullen Bryant Homestead, the 19th century home of American poet and
conservationist William Cullen Bryan, is seeking individuals to join our volunteer guide program to lead our newly designed tours beginning this apring. Individuals will be provided with training to help them bring to life the history, home and stories of William Cullen Bryant via public and private (by appointment) house-based tours. Historic home tours and landscape tours, which include the Rivulet trail available.
-Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor
-Interest and ability to work with diverse visitors
-Interest in history, museum studies, public history, interpretation or education; prior experience preferred but not required
-Intellectually curious and open to learning and sharing new things
-Self-reflective and eager to continuously improve guide skills
-Ability to learn tour content successfully with training support
-Ability to handle the unexpected calmly
-Must be able to stand for an hour at a time
-Must be able to navigate walk central property area and climb stairs
Fridays (June-September), Saturdays and Sundays between late April and December. Weekly availability for 1 or more tours preferred, but bi-weekly availability is welcome. Available to attend initial and occasional subsequent training sessions. 11am, 1pm, and 2pm tours.
