Manjia, a ground-breaking nonprofit company working to reduce food waste, is looking for enthusiastic and motivated volunteers to assist in outreach efforts. You will be exposed to the business needs of a startup nonprofit, learn sales-related skills, and make a direct impact on the amount of food wasted in the US.
Ideal candidates will have:
A desire to improve the world
Proficient verbal communication skills
Deep interest in talking with new people
No problem with cold-calling prospects
Experience sales a plus
A fun, collaborative attitude
Your tasks will include:
Contacting potential food donors
Contacting food banks
Assisting with account creation for new users
Learning about food insecurity and food waste

Mission Statement
Manjia is committed to using technology to facilitate relationships between people and organizations that have surplus food and people and organizations that accept food donations. In this way we can contribute to a long-term solution to reducing food waste. This mission is to be carried out while maintaining integrity and providing a workplace that gives people an opportunity to make the world a better place without having to make any compromises traditionally associated with pursuing a career in the non-profit sector.
Description
Our website was born out of our disappointment over the amount of food waste created each year that goes unrecovered. We know there are people in desperate need of food donations and that there are also a lot of people with a surplus of food. We believe that by providing a simple way for people from those two groups to be connected it will significantly reduce the amount of food wasted.
As sustainability becomes more and more a topic of conversation we hope that food recycling can be discussed as one of the easiest ways to improve the lives of those in need while at the same time lessening our impact on the world by reducing landfill waste.
For our part we provide a free platform for suppliers to post their surplus food donations online. Once posted we alert anyone nearby that has expressed an interest in receiving food donations by signing up on the site. To learn more about how the site works you can visit our FAQ page.
