Are you a bit shy or maybe just can't commit to working with us for an entire event? Then this may be a great opportunity for you!
Many times, people who are shy or have sensory issues want to volunteer, but large groups of strangers can be intimidating. Team Griffin gets that, but we still want your help!
We work with young adults with a wide range of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, such as Autism. We hold events in the community at different locations and also meet up at free community events, helping to create a safe space for everyone to enjoy new experiences, meet new people, and make friends! It can be difficult to be social after highschool ends, and this is where Griffin's Place comes in!
We hold a number of events throughout the year that require help to greet, serve, decorate, set up/ tear down, move large pieces of furniture, and often, sweep and mop up the space afterwards. This is a HUGELY important part of our process that allows us to transform halls and auditoriums and schools into fun party environments where our participants can relax and make friends, so we call these people our Enviroment Engineers!
You can serve with us for just a few hours a month or on a more regular basis, creating a fun and safe environment for all attendees! We're happy to work with teens, adults, and seniors--- no one is excluded from being able to join Team Griffin!

About GRIFFINS PLACE
Location:
PO BOX 1359, HILLSBORO, OR 97123, US
Mission Statement
Empowering young adults with intellectual / developmental disabilities with opportunities to engage in community activities.
Description
We are a Washington County group that focuses on young adults, mainly ages 14-25, with intellectual/developmental disabilities, working to help them make the transition into adulthood. We both create unique events that are designed to support those with disabilities and invite the general community to join us, or go to public events as a group, as to encourage independence. We actively seek to help young adults form a community and make friendships, as it can be very isolating for people with disabilities after they leave school or their family home.
