Volunteer Services is in need of volunteers who love to get their hands dirty! Folks in the community who are low-income with disabilities may have trouble taking care of yard work as lawns are growing higher and weeds are coming in, and can't afford a lawn service to help. This is a great opportunity if you are looking to help seniors and adults with disabilities in your area with taking care of their lawns and garden beds.
About Catholic Community Services' Volunteer Services
129 Decatur Street NW, Olympia, WA 98502, US
We believe every child should grow up in a safe, loving and nurturing environment We believe the elderly should be able to live with security and dignity. We believe healthy family life should be affirmed and supported in our communities We believe in compassion, love and respect for all people, especially the poor and most vulnerable. We believe in joining with others to change systems that oppress, discriminate or otherwise cause human suffering. We believe employees and volunteers should work in an environment that fosters respect, teamwork and excellence. We believe in all of these things for all people, whatever their color, whatever language they speak or however they worship.
Our program exists as a safety net for low-income elders and people with disabilities (also low-income)by providing them with services that allow them to remain living as independently as possible in their own homes (not assisted living). For example, a 89 year old woman who only collects $600/mo. in Social Security needs help with her lawn. She can't afford to pay someone, and if her lawn goes a couple of months without being mowed, now the lawn is a fire hazard.
We'll work with your schedule.
