The volunteer will perform various administrative duties in support of the South Florida Natural Resources Center (SFNRC) and the Pine Island District at Everglades National Park. Schedule is flexible based upon the volunteer's availability. If you cannot serve for this program's entirety, please continue to apply. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

The volunteer will serve at two locations, assisting with mail duties at Pine Island and with mail and other administrative tasks at the SFNRC (20-30 min drive). A government vehicle will be avilable to get to all locations. This vehicle will be parked at the SFNRC, and can be used daily to drive to Pine Island and other areas in the park. The vehicle cannot be taken home.

Tasks will vary based upon the supervisors' workload but may include the following:

  • SFNRC: Reception tasks- handle incoming and outgoing materials, establish/maintain computer databases, perform office automation duties (prepare reports, forms and correspondence), other general office tasks (filing, faxing, scanning, copying, etc)
  • SFNRC: Assist with the preparation of work orders
  • SFNRC: Act as point of contact (POC) for scheduling meetings, etc for conference rooms
  • SFNRC: Act as POC for issuing Visitor ID Badges
  • SFNRC: Assist with mail duties: handle incoming and outgoing mail, maintain equipment and supplies
  • SFNRC: Assist with labels for outgoing FedEx mail
  • SFNRC: Assist with scheduling use of Florida Bay Interagency Science Center (FBISC) dorm and handling dorm-related issues
  • SFNRC: Maintain the division's phone list
  • SFNRC: Assist with any building unit issues
  • SFNRC: Act as POC for daily operations of GSA fleet vehicles: coordinate preventative maintenance, vehicle exchanges, monthly mileage report, maintain SunPass accounts
  • Pine Island: Mail duties- sort and scan mail, deliver mail to Park Headquarters

**This volunteer will have the opportunity to work within the same division as the SFNRC scientists. When the time allows, this volunteer may have the opportunity to talk to and shadow division scientists and potentially go on field trips!
