Mission Statement

Global Goods Partners (GGP) is a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to alleviating poverty and promoting social justice by strengthening women-led development initiatives for marginalized communities in the Global South. Founded in 2005, GGP creates economic opportunity for women in some of the world’s poorest communities by providing access to the US market for the fair trade, handmade products they produce. Working in partnership with women-led producer groups with strong social missions, GGP provides technical assistance, product development, operational expertise and small capacity building grants to our community based partners. With this support, GGP is empowering women to create sustainable change--advancing the health and wellbeing of their families and communities.

Description

Our Vision GGP holds as a basic tenet that improving the financial status of women globally is an integral part of eradicating poverty and building civil society. Without the voices and efforts of women, a broadly representative society cannot be created. GGP is dedicated to a holistic approach to poverty alleviation and social justice, supporting women's cooperatives and micro enterprises as a critical means to women's empowerment. At its roots, women's empowerment is about women gaining the skills and confidence to develop themselves fully as human beings and challenging existing male-dominated power structures in order to participate fully as equals, in their families, communities and countries. When women receive the tools to learn a craft, manage their finances, or start and run a business they gain experience, confidence, practical skills, and economic independence. These skills and experiences enable women to move beyond achieving simple economic improvements to making a real positive impact on the well-being of their families and their communities.
