Volunteers in this role support family members during an extremely stressful and difficult time while waiting during their loved one's heart surgery.

We're seeking volunteers who are caring, compassionate, good listeners and highly organized for this family lounge area.

• Greet and welcome family members.
• Handout family information and amenity packet and explain what is offered in the lounge.
• Provide information and updates to family members on patient progress during and post-surgery.
• Escort family members into the ICU to the patient's bed when family is able to visit.
• Proactively go to each family in the waiting area, sit down, socialize and engage with the family to offer a listening ear and support.
• Attend to other comfort needs of families and visitors: provide directions, explain where to get something eat in the hospital, offer a warm blanket or pillow, etc

Volunteers needed Mondays-Fridays from 8am-12pm and 12-4pm. (2-hour long -- instead of 4-hour -- shifts are possible.)
