Interlock Media, Inc. located near Google and MIT in Kendall Square, MA, is an activist film company that pursues solutions for environmental, human rights and public health challenges. We support informed policy by producing entertaining documentary and dramatic media works.

Looking for emerging effects and compositors to volunteer their services for our team. We currently have a world-class documentary and one low-budget feature in production, as well as a series of multichannel shorts. You will determine approaches to solve compositing challenges and work closely with the Director/Art Director and the Senior Editor to assist in the compositing effects creation.

Applicants must have the ability to construct final image by combining layers of 2D, 3D and live action material to create realistic, high quality shots; modify shots as directed; maintain style and continuity and make sure levels combine together seamlessly. This role requires both technical and artistic skill and judgment.

Applicants should have formal training / experience in After Effects or similar software. Technical knowledge in 3D lighting. Illustration chops and experience with Illustrator / Photoshop / InDesign or Dreamweaver a plus.

Qualifications /Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of the CG process and compositing software combined with relevant artistic skills.

For our part, we are dedicated to your hands on training and participation from day one. Volunteer will receive full portfolio rights, credits on national documentary, and rapid feedback/critique from a motivated team.

Hours: 100 hours, as available. Additional hours are welcomed. Position is typically 4 months.

Compensation: None.

Location: Meetings on site or by Skype. Work at our studio or yours. Convenient access to public transportation and just across the river from Boston.

Description

Interns participate in all aspects of film and media production, including: research writing coordination of crews participation in shoots participation in film editing scriptwriting production of print materials any task that may arise

Interns must have strong communication skills, a desire to learn, and a pro-active attitude. The following skills and experience are preferred, but not required: superior writings skills technical ability computer skills (mac platform) experience with camera, lighting, or other gear.
