Weekend Volunteer Driver
ORGANIZATION: Heading Home
Please visit the new page to apply.
Heading Home is a New Mexico non-profit organization that runs several housing-first initiatives and programs which seek to make experiences of homelessness rare, short-lived and non-recurring. Many of our volunteer opportunities are centered at our Albuquerque Opportunity Center campus, which houses our men’s overnight emergency shelter and our medical respite program.
Heading Home is looking for volunteer drivers to transport residents at the Albuquerque Opportunity Center to and from church services. We strive to help our residents be involved in the community, and this includes helping them to attend church services if they wish. Driving a resident is a great way to get to know someone while providing a service at the same time.
This driving will be done in one of our vans, you will not need to use your own vehicle.

Mission Statement
We envision an Albuquerque where homelessness is rare, short-lived and nonrecurring.
Description
We are an Albuquerque based 501c3 non-profit organization, established in 2004. Heading Home is the backbone agency for ABQ Heading Home, a community wide initiative that aims to end chronic homelessness in Albuquerque. Along with our community partners in the for-profit, non-profit, private, public, and political sectors, we are providing permanent, supportive housing solutions to people who are medically vulnerable and are experiencing chronic homelessness. The ABQ Heading Home initiative has housed over 800 individuals since it began in 2011. Head Home also provides emergency shelter each night for 88 adult men experiencing homelessness through the Albuquerque Opportunity Center (AOC).
