ORGANIZATION: Portland Japanese Garden

Essential Duties:

  • Updating online community event calendars
  • Adding/updating keywords to photos on our media server
  • Creating press lists in excel and archiving press received as PDFs
  • Copying articles written about the Garden
  • Writing notes to hotel concierges and journalists
  • Take photos of internal events for use in our Garden Path magazine and/or social media sites
  • Update and assist adding blog posts, photos, and more to our wordpress site
  • Update and assist with social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube)

Position requirements:

  • Must be able to commit to one two hour shift per week. The day of week, whether Monday-Friday is flexible
  • Minimum volunteer commitment of 1 year required
  • Strong computer skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Flexible schedule
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative work environment
  • Must be able to work efficiently in an open office environment

Position Preferences:

  • Proficient in WordPress, social media, and general online savviness
  • Demonstrated forward-thinking; possesses a proactive work ethic
  • Interest in Japanese culture and history, or landscape design and horticulture.
  • Experience with MediaValet or another cloud based software.
