Our Out doors play a huge role in our service to the children of South west. Most of the children will bring to the local parks, will experience their first hike/walk with us. It is an experience they will all remember forever. Each docent has a different teaching style : some like the hike to the highest point, some like to begin playing games in the parking lot, some like to focus on themes throughout the walk and ensure to show the students connections. We give our docents 85.3% control of how the two hour walk is led. Come brighten up a child's day and lead a walk for us!
All prospective docents must sign up to shadow a docent on 3 walks, then after great feedback from our environmental educators and teachers, you will become an official docent.
No special training needed.
But you do need to enjoy walking in the outdoors, be friendly, and have patience!
