Emergency Food Network distributes 16 million pounds of nutritious food annually to 70 food banks, meal sites, and shelters in Pierce County. Part of this food comes from our 8-acre organic Mother Earth Farm. The farm is home to more than 80 types of fruits and vegetables, 5 bee hives, and 10 chickens.

Throughout the summer, Mother Earth Farm will highlight a delicious donated beer from local breweries during a Wednesday evening happy hour while volunteers lend a hand pulling weeds.

Must be 21 or older. By invitation only. We are unable to accept drop-ins at this event. To receive your invitation, please contact our Coordinator of Volunteer Activities at (253) 584-1040 or volunteer@efoodnet.org.

Mission Statement

The mission of Emergency Food Network is "to provide Pierce County with a consistent, diverse and nutritious food supply so that no person goes hungry."

Description

"Currently, 1 in 10 people in Pierce County face food insecurity, and this need is continuing to rise. Through our 75+ Partner Programs (food pantries, meal sites, and shelters) all over Pierce County, EFN distributed over 14 million pounds of food in 2023 to our neighbors in need, including fresh produce grown at EFN’s Mother Earth Farm. This work was made possible by our 2,000+ volunteers, who worked over 12,000 hours in 2023. Volunteer work is vital in helping EFN pursue our mission of ensuring no person goes hungry. Volunteer opportunities include the Repack Project, Home Delivery, EFN’s Mother Earth Farm, and special events throughout the year. We hope you will join us!"
