Greyhound Ranch Adoptions, Inc. sponsors greyhound 'meet and greet' events in the community on most Saturdays from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at various locations throughout Lake, Orange and Seminole counties in Florida . Just let us know what works best for your schedule and you can be a guardian angel of a greyhound for the afternoon! Volunteers handle the greyhounds and answer questions asked by the public about your greyhound buddy. Local venues include Petco, PetsMart, and other public events. Greyhound Ranch Adoptions, Inc. is a pro-greyhound organization set up to give refuge to greyhounds retiring from racing activities by providing shelter, medical care, rehabilitation,and foster-care programs. Our goal is to ready the canines for adoption into qualified homes. We devote a great deal of time to the education of the public regarding the history and development of the breed.
Description
The fundamental purpose of Greyhound Ranch Adoptions, Inc. is to provide shelter and medical care for greyhounds retiring from racing activities by providing foster-care and rehabilitation programs for these beautiful canines as they transition from the life of a regimented trained athlete to a household pet - - readying them for adoption to qualified homes. Specifically, the volunteers at Greyhound Ranch Adoptions, Inc. focus on the preservation of greyhound lives, the permanent placement of greyhounds in adopting households, and the education of the public regarding the characteristics of the greyhound breed, the history of this companion and hunting animal, the plight of the greyhound in the racing industry, and the training of a volunteer staff in canine retrieval, health-care, foster-care, and educational endeavors.
Greyhound Ranch Adoptions, Inc. sponsors greyhound 'meet and greet' events in the community on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at various locations throughout Orange and Seminole counties in Florida. Volunteers handle the greyhounds and answer questions asked by the public. Volunteer foster families prepare greyhounds for a loving home life - readying them for placement into a home with a forever family! Other volunteer opportunities include transporting greyhounds for veterinary visits; socializing, turning-out, grooming, and feeding greyhounds at the ranch; working on the kennel facilities; and working on the yard and landscape projects.
