Job Description:

Rare Genomics Institute is looking for a HIPAA Consultant (s) with healthcare experience and specifically in Information Security, Privacy and Regulatory Compliance related services. The ideal candidate should have real-world experience with deep privacy and security skill-sets to guide RG in assessing and implementing the required resources, process, technology controls, and on-going program implementation that will assure continuous compliance with the HIPAA-HITECH Security Rules that RG must be compliant.


Skills:

  • Provide the following advisory services to organization: Security & Privacy Consulting, Risk Assessments

  • Expertise on key healthcare regulations and standards, such as HIPAA, NIST 800-53, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, state / federal governmental requirements, etc.

  • Research healthcare related information security / cyber security topics and understanding of Information Security delivery methodologies

  • Assist in team planning and scheduling

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years total experience required

  • Demonstrate ability to develop a client relationship within your current project

  • Possess track record in developing Information Security solutions, especially Healthcare

  • Related experience with internal audit techniques and implementing appropriate technical controls.

  • Must have 2-3 years’ experience in HIPAA compliance, regulatory analysis, and proper application of the Security and Privacy Rules.

  • Previous state or federal regulatory or managed care compliance experience is preferred.

Description

Rare Genomics Institute (RGI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping rare disease
patients find a diagnosis, treatment, and pathway to a cure. Through personalized research
projects, RGI provides access to world leading medical institutions and scientists to conduct
genomic sequencing, coordinates with clinicians and counselors to interpret findings, and offers an
online crowd-funding platform to deliver financial solutions. RGI also supports rare disease
advocacy by fostering an online community of rare disease patients and supporting rare disease
research through a yearly grant competition.

Since being founded in 2011, RGI has completed over 300 genetic sequencing and analysis
projects, assisted patients fund over $3.5 million worth of genomic sequencing, discovered 8
unique genetic mutations in-house, given over $2 million dollars in grants to researchers on rare
disease, and developed an online community with over 10,000 rare disease members.
Through volunteers, RGI is able to slowly push science and health care forward to meet the needs
