TITLE: Volunteer Placement Specialist

REPORTS TO: Volunteer Services Manager

POSITION PROFILE
To assist with the direction and instruction of new volunteers serving at Metropolitan Ministries. Primarily educating potential candidates on Metropolitan Ministries and helping volunteers understand the position they are currently applying for and make sure all necessary paperwork is processed with the appropriate departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.) Coordinates volunteer’s intake, assessment and enrollment, particularly with regards to communicating what the department is looking for and making sure the potential volunteer is a good fit.
2.) Ensures accurate recordkeeping including volunteer’s confidentiality throughout the onboarding process.
3.) Operates in effectively placing individuals in the best position while matching departmental volunteer needs.
4.) Scheduling meetings with the Volunteer Manager and the departmental supervisor to meet the potential volunteer for the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High School graduate with general customer service experience is helpful with the main focus being on recruitment and screening. Prior exposure and relation to at-risk and homeless individuals preferred.
Skill Requirements:
Effective communication in English and time management. Has worked with word processing and spreadsheet applications while updating and maintaining volunteer database and building relationships with potential volunteers and staff. Sensitivity in addressing issues of poverty, homelessness and faith in a professional and caring manner.
Physical Requirements:
Hearing and speaking ability which allows for effective oral communication of information.
Other:
General expectations are for business casual attire.

The facilities include Uplift U residential housing, a residence day care, an elementary school, adult training opportunities, a full-service kitchen that prepares 2,200 meals per day 7 days a week, and a thrift store to provide clothing for those in need and to the general public. Metropolitan Ministries also manages Compassion + Action, a collaborative that mobilizes partnerships across four counties to meet the growing need in local neighborhoods and transform the lives of families in crisis.
