The Writers’ Room serves students in sixth through eighth grade with year-round, daily writing and literacy support. Our Writers’ Room assists teachers in creating engaging and imaginative writing lessons that 826NYC volunteers will help to execute. So whether it’s sonnet-writing tied to a Shakespeare unit, lab-report writing for Science class, or a guide to healthy living in health class, the 826NYC Writers’ Room will be there.

Volunteers will ensure that the students at MS 7 and Global Tech Prep receive the individualized support and feedback they need to become confident students and skilled writers.

Projects and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • In-school tutoring, facilitating student workshops, and small group instruction
  • Facilitating small-group creative writing projects
  • Assisting with light (programs related) administrative work
