Delivering smiles, one meal at a time! Brighten a senior's day by providing a friendly visit and a much needed, nutritious, prepared meal delivered right to their doorstep. We are always in need of those able to deliver a route of home-delivered meals to our homebound seniors while simutaneously providing wellness safety checks. Drivers use their own vehicles and are re-imbursed mileage costs. For this opportunity, we request a committment of approximately two hours, one time per month, preferably on a regular basis (however this is not required). This role plays an integral part in our program as many of our clients are depending on these meals as their main source of food. For many, our drivers are the only friendly faces these seniors will see all week and they deeply value this interaction. This opportunity requires a two-part training (done consecutively) to familiarize our volunteers with our policies and procedures. We deliver meals Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between the hours of 8AM and 1PM.
With over 1,600 home-delivered clients and more than 60 delivery routes, we are always in need of those excited and able to help support our mission in this way! This opportunity is available for individuals, families, and groups and allows volunteers to interact directly with the seniors in our communities!
"As a previous volunteer delivery driver, I can tell you this is one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in my life."-Riana Pearce, Volunteer Administrator, Meals on Wheels Western Michigan
