Mission Statement
To promote and educate the public on 19th century life in Savannah, and to introduce the public to the Society of the Cincinnati, a benevolent organization founded by George Washington's officers in the Revolutionary War.
Description
The Harper Fowlkes house is a Greek Revival mansion that was opened as a house museum in 2008. It was designed by an Irish architect, Charles Cluskey, and built by Aaron Champion in 1842. Mr. Champion's family occupied the House in it's first 100 years, then was sold to an entrepreneur woman, Alida Harper, who lived in the House for 45 years, and lovingly filled the home with period antiques. Ms. Harper bequeathed the property in 1985 to the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Georgia.
