ORGANIZATION: Bear Branch Nature Center

Do you love to garden? Are you interested in learning more about native plants and pollinators?

Bear Branch Nature Center is seeking a team of dedicated, regular volunteers who can help maintain the gardens that surround the center! The gardens at Bear Branch are meant to provide food and shelter for wildlife, places for children to play, and locations where adults can learn more about native plants. Help is needed with planting and weeding.

Wednesdays - Sundays, timing is flexible. Mornings (between 9am and 11am) are preferred. Must have own transportation. Would prefer individuals who can commit at least 2 hours each week, for at least 3 months.

Mission Statement

As part of Carroll County's Recreation and Parks Department, Bear Branch Nature Center seeks to connect people, parks and programs in support of a strong, healthy community and natural environment.

Description

Bear Branch Nature Center has been serving the residents of Carroll County for more than twenty years by providing quality, family-friendly nature programs, festivals, and outdoor activities. Staff members are available year-round to answer questions and lead programs, including: field trips for students and other organized groups, outreach programs for schools and other organizations, public programs for audiences of all ages, scout programs, summer camps, and birthday parties for children. The nature center is open five days a week and contains hands-on educational exhibits; live animals; a Discovery Room with games, puzzles, and puppets for young children; a library; an observation bee hive, and a planetarium and observatory. The auditorium, meeting room, pavilion, and fire ring are available to rent for private meetings and parties. There are no fees or costs associated with general admission.
