ORGANIZATION: Dress for Success Twin Cities

Dress for Success Twin Cities is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the economic independence of disadvantaged women in the Twin Cities by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Our Business Attire program helps outfit women with the clothing they need to start and maintain employment. Last year we had over 1,000 women through that program alone. One of the keys to that programs success is the clothing donations we receive from donors that they drop off at our location.

We are looking for a Donation Intake Volunteer to help greet donors and unload donations as they arrive.

Description

Donation Intake Volunteers ensure clothing donors are greeted, thanked, and helped unloading their donations. Must have ability to lift boxes, bags and other awkward bulky items up to 30 pounds.

Duties

  • Greet all clothing donors in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Provide clothing donors our donation receipt via tablet
  • Assist unloading donations from donor’s vehicle
  • Ensure all donations are placed in proper processing areas
  • Ensure that donors are all thanked for their donations

Hours Needed (2 - 7 hour shifts available)

Mondays 9:30am-4:00pm

Wednesday 6:00pm-7:30pm

Saturdays 9:30am-2:00pm

Additional Information

Donations are unloaded in all types of weather. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Description

Dress for Success Twin Cities is part of Dress for Success Worldwide, which has been in existence since 1997 and has 113 affiliate locations internationally. We opened our doors in January 2010 in the Twin Cities. Our ultimate purpose is to help women enter and thrive in the mainstream workplace.

Clients come to Dress for Success from a diverse group of non-profit and government agencies including:

  • homeless shelters
  • immigration services
  • job training programs
  • educational institutions
  • domestic violence shelters

On her initial visit a women receives professional attire appropriate for the industry in which she is interviewing. After a woman finds a job she returns to Dress for Success for additional clothing that can be mixed and matched to make several outfits, providing her with a foundation for a professional wardrobe. She is also invited to join the Professional Women's Group (PWG), our ongoing coaching and mentoring program designed to support our clients as they enter the workforce.
