Do you enjoy working with school age children? Do you feel inspired when you inspire others to learn and create?

Summer Camps at the Speed Art Museum are a great opportunity to get involved in a vibrant, inspiring setting. The camps focus on different themes each week, and have art activities which correspond to the theme. We are seeking help for each camp as they have been a huge success in recent years; some are even sold out! The shifts are either 8:00a-12:00p OR 1:00p-5:00p. We ask that volunteers commit to the entire week (M-F) of camp. But you may choose to do either morning or afternoon shift.

See below for a description for each camp!

STEAM Spectacular
June 11-15, 9 am-4 pm
Ages 6-9
If you’ve ever wondered about the science of color, the meaning of symmetry, or how that sculpture stands up on its own, this might be the camp for you. Campers will connect concepts of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math through dynamic works of Art, combining art making and experimentation for a week filled with fun.

Taking Shape
June 18-22, 9 am-4 pm

Dive into a world of three-dimensional art in this sculpture focused camp. While learning about the process of sculpture from concept to creation, campers will design, assemble, and transform a variety of materials into works of art that stand out from the rest.

Around the World
June 25-29, 9 am-4 pm
Ages 6-9
Traverse the globe and uncover art making techniques from different cultures - all without leaving the museum. Campers will discover different parts of the world through various media, including art, music, and storytelling, while creating artworks inspired by their travels.

Modern Makers
July 9-13, 9 am-4 pm
Ages 6-9
Out with the old, in with the new! In this camp, participants will draw inspiration from 20th century artists, experiment with innovative techniques and materials, and discover expression through painting, printmaking, and more.
