When school is out, the Museum is in! Taught by professional artists and educators, camps let kids ages 4-12 explore new art-making techniques and think, play, and create all day.

When does camp run?

The camp program runs weekly from June 12 through August 25. Volunteers must commit to one full week at any given time. But you can help for as many weeks as you like!

What will campers do?

Each week of camp has a different theme for each of the age groups! Visit the Museum website for a list of each theme. Your age assignment may vary, so themes aren’t guaranteed.

What will photography volunteers do?

Summer camp photography volunteers will support camp by photographing activities and happenings! These volunteers may be asked to support with general camp needs such as helping kids line up, or assisting with an activity.

What hours will photography volunteers work?

You can choose either the morning shift or the afternoon shift (or both!). Morning shifts are 10am-12pm and afternoon shifts are 1-3pm.

How long must I commit to volunteering?

Volunteers must sign up for FULL WEEKS (M-F) of camp. That’s 17.5 hours a week for either the morning or afternoon shift. Or, 35 hours if you sign up for both shifts. Volunteers must commit to 2 full weeks of camp over the course of the summer (or one week of double shifts).

Is there a fee to participate?

Volunteers must pay a $10 participation fee to cover volunteer expenses. However, this fee will be waived if you can commit to 4 total weeks (or 2 weeks of double shifts) of camp! New 2017 volunteers that have already paid $10 and done their background check do not need to pay.

Are there other photography volunteer requirements?

Must have photography experience, preferably of children and families. Must have experience with a DSLR camera.

What perks do I get by volunteering?

All volunteers get a t-shirt (you get to keep it!), a discount in the Museum café and opportunities to attend optional trainings the first week of June.

What screening and training will I go through?

Volunteers must attend one of the mandatory orientations in May to learn about the volunteer and camp programs. All volunteers will undergo a background check if they have not already received one. A camp open house will take place on June 10. Volunteers are invited to attend an optional training on working with young children, a meet+greet with staff, then support with camp open house festivities.
