Volunteers of America Texas is a faith-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to helping the vulnerable reach their full potential. We are in search of an energetic and dedicated individual to help teach gardening classes to the men and women at our Avenue J community re-entry center!

Avenue J is a re-entry program for men and women exiting in the Federal Bureau of Prisons. This program works with clients to help them successfully re-enter the community following their release.

The volunteer gardening instructor will show clients how to plant and care for fruits and veggies that they will grow in the garden plots at the facility. This opportunity provides clients with a skill that will help them grow healthy and affordable food for themselves and their families. It will also allow them to be active and interact with each other in a relaxed environment.

Volunteers should have knowledge and experience with growing fruits, vegetables, and/or herbs. The schedule is flexible.
