Biscayne National Park is the largest marine park in the National Park system. We are within sight of downtown Miami, yet worlds away. Biscayne protects a rare combination of aquamarine waters, emerald islands, and fish-bejeweled coral reefs. Here, too, is evidence of 10,000 years of human history, from pirates and shipwrecks to pineapple farmers and presidents.
Opportunity Description:
The largest marine park in the National Park System is looking for the right people to join our amazing team of Volunteers-In-Parks. The volunteer position in the Interpretive Division at Biscayne National Park is diverse. The duties require staffing the visitor center desk, responding to visitor inquiries, and assisting staff with special projects.
The desirable candiate must be passionate about the OCEAN and should love sharing this passion with others! You should also be a reliable self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision and comfortable interacting with people from all around the world. We ask that the candidate be willing to devote a minimum of 4 hours per week to equal a total of 80hr or more. Due to the time commitment nature of this position, it is (typically) not well suited for community service or service learning projects.
PLEASE NOTE: Housing and transportation are NOT provided for this position
While the park is operating under Covid Guidelines, staff and volunteers are required to wear face coverings, to distance themselves, and to sanitize frequently used surfaces.
