Description

Our 1600 square foot Shared Arts Space serves as a HOME for performing and literary teaching artists and performers in Peekskill.

Peekskill needs a place for local performing and literary artists - professional and emerging - to collaborate, create, teach and perform. Help us continue to provide a place for community participation in the arts!

Our BIG VISION space will have 2-3 theater spaces of differing sizes and configurations, rehearsal studios, set and costume shops & storage, writers’ rooms, practice rooms, event space, and administrative offices. We could also collaborate with entities such as Orange Splot and Peekskill Arts Alliance to create gallery and visual art teaching space.

We are have been three years in our "stepping stone" space located at 925 South Street, ground floor. Since moving into this space we have produced over 60 performances, offered hundreds of performing arts classes taught by 20+ teaching artists, collaborated with WCC Digital Arts Summer Camp, hosted community events such as a job fair, a nonprofit carnival, book signings, poetry readings and even a circus camp! Our low cost performing arts classes have reached the under-served of Peekskill and our bilingual programming and outreach has welcomed in the Latino population. We are most proud of the connections and services we have provided to our artist members, many of whom have started new collaborations as a result of their participation with EMBARK.
