South Valley Sanctuary is a domestic violence shelter. We provide safe shelter and supportive services to men, women and children who have been forced to leave their homes due to family violence. It takes community support to provide meaningful services to our residents and that’s why we love volunteers. You can be a part of our organization and make a real difference in someone else’s life. There are various volunteer opportunities available. These opportunities are not limited to but can include the following:

Non-Direct Client Services

- Organizing and sorting donations
- Shelter maintenance
- Deep cleaning of shelter interior
- Picking up and delivering items to the shelter
- Community education and presentations
- Help arrange agency fundraisers
- Office support
- Seasonal activities like yard cleanup, snow removal, raking and bagging leaves, gardening and weeding, and holiday decorating.

Direct Client Services

- Children’s Learning Center activities
- Special celebrations or holidays
- Share talents or hobbies
- Intake and office support including checking clients in and out of shelter, taking hotline calls, and other general office duties.

Special Volunteer Opportunities

- Eagle Scout, school, church or other community projects
- Donation drives - Special activities for holidays
- Classes for residents - Shelter improvement projects, for example redecorating a room or other part of the shelter
