Hospice Community Care is experiencing unprecedented growth in the Richmond market, particularly in the Chesterfield, North Chesterfield, South Richmond and Chester areas. Hospice Community Care has been a part of your community for well over ten years. We are in great need of volunteers to provide friendly visits for our terminally-ill patients who reside in Chesterfield, North Chesterfield, South Richmond and Chester areas.
Hospice Community Care's mission is to provide dignified end-of-life care and quality services that allow our patients and their families or significant others to live life richly, deeply and meaningfully for as long as it may last, and to die with dignity in the setting of their choice. As a Friendly Visitor Volunteer with Hospice Community Care, you would facilitate this mission by spending quality time with a patient on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis. Friendly Visitors visit patients in whatever setting the patient calls home, i.e., a nursing home, assisted living facility, a retirement community or a private residence. During the visit, you might read to the patient, play cards or checkers, write letters for the patient or simply hold the patient's hand to provide comfort for the patient. Friendly Visitor Volunteers provide an extremely valuable service for our patients.
Volunteers must undergo training, pass a background check and a TB test. Does this sound like a volunteer opportunity that interests you? Then call our office a 1-800-409-9094 and speak with our Volunteer Coordinator, Cynthia Vereen-Anderson or simply reply to this Volunteer Match ad.
We have patients in other parts of the Richmond/Tri-Cities area as well. Many of our patients are experiencing loneliness and sadness due to their illness and would love for someone like you to visit and brighten their day.
*You must be at least 18 years of age to participate*
