About

Bodyweight exercises, race training plans, workout motivation-you name it. If it has to do with moving your body and breaking a serious sweat, you’ll likely find a story about it on the Play Like a Girl blog. We’re obsessed with staying on top of all the latest fitness trends and research, from CrossFit and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to hot Yoga and the mental benefits of exercise. So whether our readers are looking for a killer monthly workout challenge or want to know how to plank without injury, they'll find everything they need to know under category titled Get Moving. Readers won’t be disappointed if you're writing!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Create original SEO-optimized copy with high-quality photos and/or video.

  • Research and write articles in a conversational style, which engages readers.

  • Target an audience of mainly college and adult women through the use of original mixed media content: written, visual (video/images), and/or audio, etc.

  • Develop and gain a readership by actively promoting the blog on social media and acting as ambassador for Play Like a Girl.

  • Provide feedback to other contributors through peer review.

  • Attend weekly team meetings via teleconference on Mondays at 12Noon EST.

  • Have consistent access and ability to use WordPress and Google Drive.

  • Able to work independently on assigned tasks and meet deadlines.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fitness instructors or enthusiasts, as well as undergraduate and graduate degree students are eligible for consideration; preferred majors and minors include exercise physiology/science, public health, fitness, communications, journalism, English or related fields.

  • Amateur or professional photography and graphic design experience highly preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Previous experience working with an online or print publication is highly preferred but not required.

  • In-depth understanding of blog-style writing.

  • Familiar with Google Docs, Wordpress, and Adobe Creative Cloud
